Pirates of the Carabina: RUHM

Work in Development

RUHM is a show that seeks to dismantle and rebuild those elements of life, technology, performance and expression that make us human. Based around a series of new and original props, RUHM is an ensemble performance that explores our relationship to our environment - built and social – and asks what it is that drives us to work together, or not.

Very much in its initial stages of development, the show again puts the mechanics of circus centre stage. Early concepts for props have been in development for over a decade, with the intention being that the set will grow over the course of the show, using large-scale, real-time construction.

RUHM explores those Human impulses that drive us to continue, and in this way the production is in every way open to personal interpretation. Life is Relentless; the world is Relentless; it is Unstoppable.
Is Human consciousness innately mystical, or are we just part of some inescapable Machine? And where do we find the Humour in this ridiculous situation?
