Lost in Translation Circus: Famished

Ideas Stage Work

A sensory feast of smells, taste and circus. Exploring our relationship with food, emotion and the hunger for more. The necessity of eating for survival has become so much more (and less), from a way of bonding, of bringing together, to a crutch for other lacks, a pure indulgence in greed. Food as a substitute for love, desire, sex, pleasure, and food as memory… From the comic to the intimate this show will delve into the every day and our deepest desires.

We aim to build a sensory world for the audience, visually, but also through smells, and possibly cooking onstage and feeding them (or some of them) at some point during the show. We want some moments of interaction and to really bring them into our world as fully as possible.

Building on the artistic process of our last indoor show - The Hogwallops, we aim for Famished to maintain our fun, light hearted approach, but take our artistic work to the next level, pushing deeper, more subtle and more adult. Famished will be technically a little simpler and slightly smaller scale. We will continue to work with combining high level circus skills with character and narrative.

Current state of project

Throughout January - March 2017 we will be spending a period of intensive training and preparing the physical skills that will go into the show. We are preparing for the first stage of R&D.
