Hikapee theatre: Moonfall

Tour Ready
Hikapee Theatre Moonfall

Join a princess like no other as she embarks on the biggest journey of her life – to the Moon!
This brilliantly comical story-telling performance explores the role of gender stereotypes within children’s theatre using a rope, a hoop and bags of imagination.

Aimed at children aged 4+, with two performers and many more characters, Moonfall is an indoor family friendly production.

Moonfall was conceived and had its original R&D period in 2014 with performances at IYAF. In March 2017 Hikapee worked with Jacksons Lane and Theatre Delicatessen for the main stage of development with mentorship from Circus Futures and support from Arts Council England. This culminated in a sold out showing at Jacksons Lane and Theatre Delicatessen.

“There were many audible gasps and cheers from the captivated young audience, as the duo seamlessly tumbled from one trick into the next.” Reviewed by Ruby Isla Cera Marle, Children’s Theatre Reviews

Moonfall will have its final development period in October 2017 at SeaChange Arts before being tour ready.

Current state of project

Hikapee have successfully raised funding from Arts Council England for this second stage of development, which they are hoping to complement with another application for final rehearsals and first short tour.

Having completed the main development period, Hikapee are now looking to their final week of rehearsals in October. Conversations regarding tour venues and theatre bookings for Autumn/ Winter 2017 and Spring 2018 have begun. The company are looking for more venues and programmers to support the tour.

Set / rigging & technical details

Hikapee require two rigging points for aerial equipment, one for a rope, and one for a hoop. These will both be dead hung using strops for ease and need to be load tested, with a maximum load of 375kg.
Moonfall uses pendant lights as part of it’s set. These will hang from ceiling panels, which will need to be hung upstage.

The rest of the set will be floor based so just require a smooth flat floor.
